Half Day Custom Tour

London's Caribbean Connections - Bob Marley in Notting Hill

London has always attracted musicians from across the globe hoping to find fame and fortune and, in the process, perhaps, influencing the whole of rock'n'roll. Bob Marley certainly did both here in London, and our tour charts his London history. Marley’s final words to his son Ziggy were "Money can't buy life". True. But Bob’s music bought him longevity of a different kind. Over 30 years on from his death his music continues to be purchased in platinum quantities and inspires millions across the world.

Still so much associated with Britain’s Caribbean community and with Bob Marley himself, this tour explores Marley’s life and heritage, his legacy and his continued influence on reggae and associated musical styles.

Amongst the locations and sites, see houses and apartments where he lived, including those of his first visit to the city with the Wailers in the early 1970s, the famed Island recording studios where so much of Marley's latter recordings were made, and tour the theatre where the seminal ‘Exodus’ live performance was recorded. There are original gig sites where both Marley and his reggae pioneers performed, including the famed ‘Mangrove Club’ and the local side streets where the pain of race riots were channeled into the annual celebration of London's large Carribean community, the Notting Hill Festival.

This is a private/custom tour available, subject to availability, on the date of your choice. Choose a full walking tour, a cycling tour or a vehicle tour (note that some places are accessible by foot only.)

Normally this is a half day tour (2 -4 hours) but can be combined with either visits to the local markets and vinyl record stalls, or venture into neighbouring Holland Park or Ladbroke Grove to make a full day rock day out (full day is 4 - 8 hours.)
