What is included in your tour price for tours of 3 days or longer... Accommodations whilst on tour with us, as per each tour itinerary. NOTE: accommodation on mini-tours (less than 6 days in duration) is included whilst on tour only; accommodation in each city base must be booked separately. Your accommodation is in three-star lodgings. If unobtainable, then an equivalent standard will be reserved. All rooms with private facilities, unless specifically informed at the time of booking your tour. Accommodations include country inns, manor houses, cozy farmhouses and quaint family owned B & Bs (see Booking Conditions for any exceptions). See more information on our Accommodations page. PLEASE NOTE: the vast majority of the accommodations we use do not have traditional-style portage (neither do they have lifts/elevators). Your guide, however, will normally be able to assist with your baggage. BUT please do note that if you bring along bags that are heavier than the normal standard airline permissible weight and size, European Health and Safety regulations apply. Under these circumstances guides will be within their rights should they be reluctant to carry that bag. All tours commence from a major city and begin from our carefully chosen location bases. Accommodation in each city base must be booked separately. Pre and/or post tour accommodation in the tour departure point hotel is available to book for a supplemental fee. If you are linking several mini-tours together, similarly, accommodation between tours is available to book for a supplement. Guests are responsible to make their way to the tour departure point at the designated time if they have chosen to stay at another location. A transfer to the tour departure point is available for a supplemental fee. All transportation whilst on tour aboard our comfortable 6 to 16 seat mini-coaches and the services of a driver/guide throughout. Further details are available on the Mini-Coaches page. Cooked breakfast daily* whilst on tour and dinners every night**. See detailed tour itinerary for full meal inclusions. *In tour city base hotels - London, Manchester, Glasgow, Lille and Dublin - continental breakfast is served. All tours on the European mainland include continental breakfast. **On all tours over 6 nights, one dinner is not included, usually in a major city stop to allow tour participants some independence and flexibility. Dinners are not included in city base hotels. All sightseeing and entrance fees when accompanied by driver/guide. All taxes. All tips and gratuities (except to guide/companion) to outside suppliers but you're free to supplement if the service warrants such.
What’s NOT Included in your tour price Air Fares to Europe. Air travel must be booked separately. Special Group Tours does not have any contracted air arrangements (in our experience, online sales are the best price advantage) - we are happy to assist you with advice and online air bookings. Gate 1 Travel’s tour packages do include airfare as outlined in their itineraries. These packages may also be booked as land-only, to your preference. All other tours listed on our site do NOT include airfare. Airport transfers except for those few itineraries longer than 6 days in duration where it specifically is listed on the itinerary. All other transfers must be booked separately and specifically added to your individual tour program. A transfer is to the tour departure hotel or to a hotel of your choice from your airport of arrival in the city from which your tour begins. Transfers are not available from rail stations. We can of course drop-off at stations but pick-ups are not possible due to parking restrictions. If your initial transfer is not to the tour base hotel (but to one that you've booked independently) then you are obliged to make your own way to our tour hotel on the morning of departure (or you may book an additional transfer.) If you have an airport transfer booked, your flight details (carrier, flight number, arrival or departure date/time, which airport code) must be given to us at time of final payment so we can properly make your arrangements. Lunches, social drinks, items of a personal nature and entrance fees whilst on your free time, when not accompanied by your Driver/Guide. Incidental expenses, such as telephone bills, newspapers and room service incurred at accommodations is the responsibility of the individual client. All expenses are settled prior to leaving the accommodation. Occasional optional evening theatre/festival visits. We are happy to assist you with making these arrangements but they are priced accordingly. Laundry costs and any shipping charges for the return of purchases made on tour, or for the return of property lost on tour. Driver/Guide gratuity is at your discretion. How much to tip your guide? Well, that is up to you based upon what you think he/she deserves. Tips are usually approximately $5 USD per person per day; some people give more if they can afford it, some less if that is all they can manage. It is totally to your discretion & budget.
