HOMECOMING SCOTLAND ITINERARY, 8 DAYS/ 7 NIGHTS

Recommended for the following Clans: Buchanan, Lennox, MacDonald, MacGregor, Mackenzie, MacLeod, Robertson, Scott and Wallace

Accommodation in:

• 2 nights in Oban area
• 2 nights on the Isle of Skye area *
• 1 night in Inverness area
• 1 night in Edinburgh
• * accommodation may, particularly in high season not be ON the Isle of Skye

Homecoming Scotland Day to Day Suggested Driving Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive at Edinburgh Airport and pick up self-drive car*. Drive via Stirling pausing to visit its ancient castle on the rock commanding magnificent views of the wide plains all around. Continue through the Trossachs, the so-called ‘Highlands in Miniature’, to Drymen, near the shores of Loch Lomond. Overnight in Loch Lomond area.

Day 2 Follow the banks of Loch Lomond and continue westwards along Loch Fyne to Inveraray pausing to visit the castle, seat of the Duke of Argyll.  Continue along one of the most beautiful valleys of the west coast from Lochgilphead to Oban for overnight.

Day 3 Either a visit to Loch Awe or for the more energetic a short drive to the ferry at Oban and drive over the Isle of Mull for the day, also visiting the sacred Isle of Iona where St. Columba brought Christianity from Ireland in AD563. Overnight as Day 2.

Day 4 Continue along the magnificent west coast before taking the famous 'Road To The Isles' from Fort William to Mallaig with its splendid views to the islands of Rhum, Eigg, Muck, Skye and the Morvern peninsula. Ferry crossing to the southern shores of the Isle of Skye. Pause to visit the Clan Donald Museum en route to Portree. Overnight on the Isle of Skye.

Day 5 Full day to explore the Isle of Skye, the impressive Cuillin Hills, Dunvegan Castle and the Folk Museum. Return to the same hotel as Day 4 for second overnight.

Day 6 Full day to explore the Isle of Skye, the impressive Cuillin Hills, Dunvegan Castle and the Folk Museum. Return to the same hotel as Day 4 for second overnight.

Day 7 Drive to Grantown on Spey for a visit to one of the many distilleries in the area before heading south into the Dee Valley, past Balmoral Castle through the dramatic landscape of Glen Shee to Blairgowrie and Perth. Pause to visit Scone Palace, former crowning place of Scottish kings. Drive to Edinburgh later and overnight.

Day 8 Free morning for shopping or sightseeing. Short drive to Edinburgh Airport for departure.

There are 3 booking classes available to choose from:

• Mixed Tourist Package:  based on STB 3 star B&Bs, Guest Houses, Inns and STB 2 star hotels – all with private facilities - at a mix available at time of booking. Not all accommodation options might be included in the booked package.
• Middle Class hotel:  STB 3 star hotels
• First Class hotel:  STB 4 star hotels and country houses

Child Policy: (when sharing with 2 paying adults)

• Middle & First Class Hotel Package
• Up to 3 years free, meals to be paid direct as taken.
• 4 to 12 years supplement of £25.00 per night, including breakfast.
• 13 to 16 years triple room or single room charge as applicable.
• Mixed Tourist Package
• Up to 3 years free, meals to be paid direct as taken.
• 4 to 12 years 50% discount on full adult price.

Prices given are per person sharing a twin or double room. Single Supplements are given as a supplement.

Triple room rate are subject to request and availability, as a guideline please estimate 10% discount on double occupancy rate. All rates given are subject to availability at time of booking. Accommodation in the Skye area might not be ON the island of Skye, particularly in high season.
