The Beatles' Childhood Homes, Visit the Liverpool Homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney

The National Trust looks after two suburban houses in Merseyside, 20 Forthlin Road and Mendips. These unassuming houses are the childhood homes of two Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney and John Lennon.

A combined tour to Mendips and 20 Forthlin Road, the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, is your only opportunity to see inside the houses where the Beatles met, composed and rehearsed many of their earliest songs. Walk through the back door into the kitchen and imagine John's Aunt Mimi cooking him his tea, or stand in the spot where Lennon and McCartney composed 'I Saw Her Standing There'. Join our custodians on a fascinating trip down memory lane in these two atmospheric period houses, so typical of Liverpool life in the 1950s. Note: access to these houses is by National Trust minibus tour only (charge including members).

Don't miss:

  • Original family photographs by Mike McCartney on display.
  • Visit the bedroom where John Lennon did his dreaming.
  • Walk in the footsteps of these musical legends.

Visiting the Beatles houses in Liverpool is an absolute must for fans of the band of any ages. The tours provide a real insight in to Lennon and McCartney's humble beginnings. Beatles tours are available from February to November and get booked up quickly with just 15 seats per departure. BOOK EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT!

MENDIPS John Lennon lived at Mendips with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George. This is where his passion for music began and where some of his early songs were written.

20 FORTHLIN ROAD, ALLERTON A little terrace house in Liverpool is where the Beatles met, rehearsed and wrote many of their songs. Join our characterful custodian on a trip around the McCartney family home, and hear stories from one of the most exciting times in music history. Enjoy contemporary photos by Michael McCartney and original early Beatles memorabilia. Hear Michael's and Paul's reminiscences on the audio tour.
