Who Are YOU? The Who in London Rock Tour
Mod London, 1964. It’s the birthplace of the Who and their own special brand of destructive rock’n’roll!
This tour explores the western London neighbourhoods of Ealing, Acton, Wembley, Shepherds Bush, Twickenham, ‘Swinging London’s Chelsea and Carnaby Street, central London’s Soho and more. You’ll see band members’ childhood homes, schools and colleges, classic Mod clubs like the Goldhawk Road Social Club, the legendary Marquee, and the Scene. You’ll see where Pete ‘woke up in a Soho doorway’ and where ‘Pictures of Lilly’ was inspired. You’ll drink in pubs where the band (and see where they bought them in the first place), where first smashed up their instruments, where Moon was auditioned and lyrics were written in-between pints of beer! We find sites connected with the making of ‘Tommy’ and ‘Quadrophenia’, ‘Who’s Next’ and ‘A Quick One’ and the aborted ‘Lifehouse’ project, seeing the ‘Oo’s own recording studios and rehearsal rooms. We’ll also explore their solo careers. Sadly, including where Keith died and is buried, but also hear lots of stories of Moon the Loon’s antics as he played havoc around London. Naturally, the ‘Oo are set in the context of their lives and times and you’ll learn about Mod culture, music and fashion.

This tour gets you to places not normally seen by regular tourists and there’s lots of photograph! All our tours are accompanied by a knowledgeable driver/guide who knows the city’s history as well as the more specific rock history so you get two tours in one!
