DRESS CODE: Denim, collarless or sleeveless shirts and sneakers are not permitted. Shorts and baseball caps are frowned upon. Proper golf attire is essential, i.e., long pants or knickers (plus fours), shirt with collar and sweater. After 7PM, a jacket and tie are required in the clubhouse
Recommendation: When golfing at resort owned golf courses, such as the K Club, Adare Manor, Conrad Mt. Juliet, Carton House or Marriott Druid's Glen, we recommend staying at the hotel. Despite the extra expense of staying at a 5 star hotel, you will save substantially by paying resident green fees.
Did you Know? Ireland is also renowned for its many golf courses as well as being the home of the Mulligan - a Mulligan is the one free stroke allowed each player per nine holes of play and to be played at his or her discretion. Makes perfect sense - who better to determine when they need to repeat a shot that the players themselves. The universally brilliant and pragmatic ruling was the brainchild of Arthur Mulligan, a renowned Meath golfing personality who once said, ' the coures here leave me little choice but to count creatively'.

BALLYBUNION Co. Kerry Old Course – Traditional Links Cashen Course – Traditional Links. The character of both courses is unique, both true links set amongst the finest sand dunes the world has to offer. They hug the ruggedly breathtaking Atlantic Ocean coastline, which provides a magnificent backdrop Consistently rated among the top courses in the world. High winds howling in off the Atlantic across the tops of barren sand hills make every shot a challenge. Be forewarned - there is a graveyard beside the first tee. Cashen Course.
DOONBEG Standing on the first tee, your eye is drawn to the crescent beach and the massive dunes. The first hole could be deemed among the best starting holes in golf. After your drive lands on the fairway, you must avoid he small pot bunker on your second to allow for your third to the green. The large green complex is protected on three sides by an enormous dune that signifies the imagery for the entire course.
LAHINCH Near Shannon Lahinch is Ireland's sentimental favorite. Oddities such as a blind approach to the 5th green, and barometric goats lend charm to the natural beauty spots such as the 11th green nestled among the sand hills. Lahinch is a fine natural and traditional links.
KILDARE COUNTRY CLUB (30 mins. from Dublin) Known as the "K Club", the Arnold Palmer designed course is the toughest parkland course in Ireland. The layout maximizes the use of woodland and natural lakes. At 7,159 yards, it's an enjoyable test. The 36th Ryder Cup took place in Ireland in 2006 at the K Club, located 20 miles west of Dublin city.
KILLARNEY Co. Kerry This club has two fine courses set in the splendid scenery of the Lakes of Killarney and majestic McGillicuddy Reeks. The twin courses at Mahony's Point and Killeen must be among the most scenic golf courses in the world. Set amid lake and mountain, each course is a fine test of golf, with green and lush fairways tending to make the course play longer than the actual yardage. Dooks , Beaufort .
MOUNT JULIET Kilkenny The Jack Nicklaus designed course is 7,083 yards, set on 180 acres, offering variety at every turn and challenges for all golfers. Set along the River Nore, water comes into play on six holes, and 80 bunkers place a premium on accuracy from tee to green. .
PORTMARNOCK LINKS (near Dublin) Adjoining the original Portmarnock Golf Club, the Links Portmarnock is a classical seaside links course set on 180 acres, 30 minutes north of Dublin city. A 12th century church overlooks the property, and two offshore islands provide some stunning views. Portmarnock Old Course.
OLD HEAD, KINSALE Co. Cork Par 72- Links, 6,900 yds. Old Head has to be one of the most spectacular and dramatic courses anywhere. There are views of the ocean from every point and the course offers challenging golf with ever present wind. Founded 1997. Situated on a celebrated peninsula, which juts out into the Atlantic nearly 300 feet below, it is an awe-inspiring spectacle that some golfers have likened to Pebble Beach.
ADARE MANOR GOLF COURSE (near Limerick) Adare is the Augusta of Ireland. The River Maigue forms the backbone of the 7138 yard Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed championship golf course. A mature and challenging course winds it's way from the ruins of the Desmond Castle (c1200), which forms a magnificant backdrop to the 1st green, through tree lines fairways to the ruins of the Franciscan Abbey (c1464) at the top end of the course. Mature majestic trees abound and demand accuracy on approaches to many greens. It will prove a challenge to the most seasoned of golfers. The club is renowned for it's hospitality and visitors will find their experience of the course and the clubhouse a most memorable one.
BALTRAY, COUNTY LOUTH from $188 County Louth golf course is more usually known as Baltray, the small fishing village on the Boyne estuary about 35 miles north of Dublin; golf has been played here since 1892, but it was the revisions made to the course in the 1930s by Tom Simpson that make it a great course.
CONNEMARA GOLF CLUB Par 72 - Links, 6,800 yds. Only 5-miles from Clifden and open to the Atlantic winds, Connemara is majestically situated in one of the most hauntingly beautiful parts of Ireland along Ballyconnelly Bay with a backdrop of the Twelve Bens Mountains in the distance. The hack nine throws out one great hole after another and is a severe test at 3600 yards from the regular tees. Founded 1973.
DRUIDS GLEN (30 minutes south of Dublin) Venue for the Irish Open 1996-1999 at the Druid's Glen Marriott.. Over 7000 yards, with a unique Celtic cross on the 12th hole, and an island green on the 17th
EUROPEAN CLUB Par 71 - Links, 6,450 yds. Located one hour south from Dublin on the East Coast at Brittas Bay in County Wicklow, the European Club has already become one of the most challenging courses in the country. The layout has some classic and traditional doglegs running through sand dunes with several holes along the ocean. The first links course to be built in the 20th century on the east coast of Ireland, it was voted 6th in the country within two years of opening! A must play. Founded 1992.
ROSSES POINT, COUNTY SLIGO Situated on Rosses Point, between Drumcliff Bay and Sligo Bay in the heart of Yeats country with the flat topped Ben Bulben as a backdrop, the course was founded in 1894 and revised in 1922 by Harry Colt and John Alison. When you play Rosses Point, make time to savor Yeats Country; the remains of the poet are in nearby Drumcliff cemetery.
ROYAL COUNTY DOWN (near Newcastle) RATED THIRD BEST IN THE WORLD Par 71 - Links, 6,692 yds. The legendary Tom Morris laid out this course and it has been described as "a golfing feast of banqueting proportions." The golfing experience at Royal County Down is often bittersweet. While its location beneath the spectacular Mountains of Mourne may earn it the title of the most beautiful links in the world, it is without a doubt one of the toughest. Founded 1889.
ROYAL PORTRUSH (near Giant's Causeway) Par 71 - Links, 6,650 yds. The ruins of Dunluce Castle overlook this marvelous links course which played host to the 1951 British Open. The exhilarating design of the course, with its unique combination of balance, intelligence, and precision, has earned Royal Portrush its reputation as one of the masterpieces of golf architecture. More recently Royal Portrush has held the British Senior Open Championship in '96, '97, '98 and '99. Founded 1888.
PORTSTEWART Par 72- Links, 6,784 yds. From the first tee Portstewart offers terrific panoramic views over The River Baun, the ocean and the hills of Donegal. Golfers are surrounded by high sand dunes and must factor in the ever-present wind for each shot. The golf is truly exhilarating on this excellent course. Founded 1894.
GOLF AT ROYAL BELFAST Play 18 holes of golf at the oldest golf club in Ireland. Residing on the shores of Belfast Lough it has unrivalled views and a course to match. Among the more memorable holes on the front nine are the short Par 3 4th, which measures only 142 yards but requires a very accurate shot to a green literally surrounded by bunkers. The Par 4 8th has out of bounds all along the left hand side and the 408 yard Par 4 9th, rated the most difficult on the course, plays directly alongside the shores of Belfast Lough. The homeward journey will not disappoint either, from the beautiful short par four 10th playing alongside the water's edge, the signature par 3 11th, right through to the long Par 5 18th, each hole is a real pleasure to play.
TRALEE Co. Kerry Par 72 - Links, 6,252 yds. Perched on a cliff overlooking the beautiful Dingle Peninsula, Tralee is one of the most stunning links courses in the world offering many dramatic holes that test the skills of golfers at every level. Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, Tralee has a back nine to equal any. Founded 1896.
WATERVILLE Ring of Kerry Par 72 - Links, 7,184 yds. This stunning course was fondly dubbed the "Magnificent Monster" by Sam Snead and is located on the Ring of Kerry buffeted by peninsular winds. One of Europe's longest courses, Jack Mulcahy and Eddie Hackett transformed this rugged links into an elegant championship course. Founded 1973.
LOUGH ERNE RESORT Northwest For the golf enthusiast The Faldo Course, is an exciting challenge. The routing of the course has been planned carefully to take full advantage of the natural topography; providing eighteen spectacular Golf Holes. Fourteen holes where the waters of the Loughs come into play including a green surrounded on three sides by water - a course that will excite the best of players!
