Cream & Clapton in London - “Looking for god!”
Looking ‘god’ in London! We might not actually be able to come up with the exact place where the legendary ‘Eric is God’ graffiti was scribbled but we have tracked down a heap of places important to both his and The Cream’s history. And it’s a fascinating story.
On this full day, timed to accompany Eric’s London concert series at the Royal Albert Hall, we visit landmark sites and locations important in his rise and rise from the young blues guitarist to the world-renowned virtuoso he is today. You’ll visit club sites like Kooks Kleek, The Marquee, Eelpie Island, and Ealing’s ‘Moist Hoist’. We’ll visit the Thames-side neighbourhood of Richmond and Kew, Clapton’s base with the Yardbirds. Time exploring fashionable Chelsea will take us past several Clapton homes, including his current home. You’ll also see his office and where famed Cream album artwork was drawn. We’ll also find recording and rehearsal studios, cellar clubs, pubs and bars that have a story to tell.
As the story of Cream equally features two other legendary characters of Jack Bruce and Ginger baker, we’ll also find sites relevant to their individual and combined histories.
Like other tours in our ‘specials‘ series, the day’s programme will put ‘flesh on the bone’, bringing Cream and Clapton’s story alive in a way that no book or DVD can do. You’ll be accompanied by an expert guide, and we’ll make full use of our on-board CD and DVD facilities to listen to some great music!
